Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 13, Brighstone Buzz, 12th January, 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year! Welcome back to everyone.

Our first full week of term has been a busy one and the Christmas holidays seem like a distant memory. January brings with it thoughts of resolutions – a new year, a new start. In our worship this week we have reminded ourselves of our core values: Love, Courage and Respect.

This half-term we are going to focus on learning behaviours with the children. Our theme this week was Resilience: the love of learning, the courage not to give up and having respect for the pride in our work and presentation. As part of this we have been encouraging the children to face up to challenges, we want them to be proud of their learning, achievements and their school.

The sense of belonging that the children have to the school is important and we would like to thank all of the parents who support us by ensuring that the children have the correct school uniform. Please can we ask that you continue to encourage your children to wear their uniform with pride, including the correct school shoes. If you would like support with providing the correct uniform for your child (and PE kit), please do not hesitate to contact us as we have a range of good quality second hand items that we would be happy to share with you.

For three weeks of this term Key Stage 2 are being offered the opportunity to attend Homework Club on Friday 19th January, 26th January and 2nd February. Please ensure that if you would like your child to attend that they come equipped with their green homework book. Last term there were some instances when children attended without their books and this made it very difficult for the child and the staff members who were supporting them.

We are looking forward to the term ahead of us and all of the opportunities that it will have.

Best wishes

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
