Dear Parents and Carers,
‘Thank you, Lord, for the beauty of your creation.’ Moments of awe and wonder have been enhanced by the exceptional autumn days we have experienced this week. Thinking of Autumn turns our thoughts to Harvest time.
On Wednesday 10th October we have our Harvest Festival Celebration, this will be in church at 8.45am. Instead of a Eucharist this month, the service is a one of thanksgiving and celebration where each class will take part sharing hymns, poems, readings and prayers. In preparation for our Harvest Festival, we would like to encourage the children to bring gifts of packaged food products. These will then be donated to the Salvation Army – last year they supplied 140 Families with food hampers and on Christmas day they had 144 people in need attend their Christmas day dinner, all in all they fed over 500 people. They also provided food parcels for those who needed them on Christmas day. They need donations of packaged food in order to be able to fulfil this again and they are inviting schools to help support the project. We look forward to inviting parents to join us at the
Harvest Festival.
This is an exciting weekend as we have the annual Round the Island relay race organized by the BSA. There is a lot at stake as Brighstone has won the sponsored run against Nine Acres Primary School for two consecutive years. This year will be slightly different as Team Brighstone are running clockwise starting from Isle of Wight Pearl, can they hold onto the title? They have put in a huge effort and I’m sure you will join me in wishing them a successful day. Thank you to everyone who is taking part and to those who are sponsoring the runners.
Since the start of term we have been trying to balance the level of staffing in year five and six. Unfortunately, Mrs Cohen was unable to take up her post as LSA for personal reasons. This week in the County Press there is an advert for an LSA position. If you are interested in applying, an
application pack can be collected from the school office or found on our school website. Please do not hesitate to discuss the position with me, the closing date for applications is 8th October 2018.
The theme for our collective worship this term is thankfulness.
God gave you a gift of 84,600 seconds today. Have you used one to say Thank You?
.Best wishes
