Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 6, Brighstone Buzz, 2nd November, 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back, we hope you had an enjoyable half-term break.

I would like to say a well done and thank you to all of the children and families who took part in the pumpkin lantern competition organised by the BSA on Tuesday. I’m sure that those of you that were there will agree it was a fantastic, imaginative and creative display of design ideas; lighting up the chill of autumn outside the village shop.

There is a lot happening over the coming half-term, please check the dates section regularly. We will also try to post regular updates on our Facebook page as reminders of events. Coming up next week we have a focus on

Remembrance Day. As a whole school, we have been invited to join the Royal British Legion at the war memorial for a short Remembrance Service from 10.45am on Friday 10th November, this will last approximately twenty minutes. Our next school Eucharist service in church is on Wednesday 15th November at 8.40am we would like to invite parents to join for these occasions.

We have our Parent Consultation Evenings on Tuesday 14th November and Wednesday 15th November 2017, times can be booked through the school office. We would like to encourage all parents to take the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher as this is an important opportunity to be updated on progress and attainment for the term.

Our next parent curriculum information session is on Reading and Phonics. The first of these sessions will be on

Friday 10th November at 2.15pm. There will be also be an information point linked to Reading and Phonics in the school library during the Parent Consultation Evenings on Tuesday 14th November and Wednesday 15th November from 3.00pm – 6.00pm. I will be based there during this time to answer any queries that parents wish to raise.

In the meantime, if you have any queries please do not hesitate to speak to me in the playground, I am always happy to make appointments to meet with parents.

I wish you all an enjoyable and relaxing Bonfire weekend.

Best wishes

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
