Dear Parents and Carers
Another week has flown by in the life of Brighstone Primary School. The slightly unseasonable and unpredictable weather has not dampened spirits as we put plans in place for the range of activities that we have scheduled. We have now a finalised list of dates for the whole school beach day, sports day, summer show and leavers activities. Please check the dates for your diary section, there is a lot happening over the coming weeks.
It was lovely to welcome the parents and children of our new reception class into school this week, at the parents’ welcome evening. We look forward to welcoming them on Monday afternoon for a drop in stay and play session.
The excitement in EYFS has been non-stop this week. First of all they harvested the potatoes that they had been growing – over nine kilo-grams in total! What a fantastic result! One of the activities our reception class enjoy is Dough Disco – thank you to all of the parents that came along to support them in celebrating the 10th birthday and helping them to raise money for ‘Spread The Happiness Charity’.
Next week we have a lot to look forward to: we have a group of children celebrating their sporting achievements by representing the school at the Hampshire Games in Aldershot. Our children in Year 1, Year 2 and Year 5 are developing their topic work by visiting Osborne House. Some of our children from Year 3 and Year 5 are taking part in the STEM First Lego League project, thank you to Pete Boyle for helping Mrs Denness to set this up. We look forward to hearing more about the engineering solutions and the programming of their models once they have attended next week’s EXPO at Ryde School.
Whatever you are doing this weekend, I hope you have a restful and enjoyable weekend. If you are attending the Festival, the emphasis will be on enjoyment rather than rest but I do hope the weather is kind.
Best Wishes
Mrs Fox
