Dear Parents & Carers
I would firstly like to congratulate Year 6 on surviving SATs week. They have been model students and have applied themselves superbly. As a school we are immensely proud of them all. Well done! The results should arrive by the end of June.
Farewell to a few members of staff: We are going to be saying goodbye to a couple of teachers at the end of the summer Mr Evans is moving to another school and we are all very sad to be saying goodbye, Mr Evans has been a very popular member of staff within the school. Mr Edmonston is also leaving us in July to continue teaching elsewhere; we would like to thank Mr Edmonston for stepping in to help us in the Autumn and the energy and buzz he has brought to Year 5. It may not be the last we see of him. Mrs Searle will sadly be leaving us at the end of this half-term, she has a new job to go to and I’m sure you will all join me in wishing her the best of luck.
New Teachers: As I informed you last week Miss Peto will be joining us after ½ term in Year 3. We are also very excited to inform you that Mr Ben Givens will be joining us in September in Year 5. Ben is an experienced teacher who has great experience in teaching and has most recently been a leading teacher in Qatar. We are really excited to welcome Ben and his family back to the island and look forward to working with him. We are also recruiting for a further teacher as pupil numbers in the lower school have grown and we hope to be able to make an announcement soon. We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Michele Lincoln will also be joining us as our new SENCO for 2 days per week in September. You may remember Mrs. Lincoln as our Year 3 teacher during the Autumn term. She is an experienced SENCO and teacher.
Internet Safety; This week we have had to deal with a couple of incidents from outside school regarding online behaviour. Some pupils have had extra lessons on this and we will be following this up further. Online gaming seems to be very popular with the children but some of their communication has been off colour. Can I urge you to monitor carefully what your children are accessing and how they interact? It is very difficult and as a parent too we have to teach our children how to stay safe online. A great resource for you can be found on this website: www.thinkuknow.co.uk
Please enjoy the weekend.
