Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 15, Brighstone Buzz, 26th January, 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

“We do not learn from experience, we learn from reflecting on experience.” John Dewey

Our focus on learning behaviours this week has encouraged the children to be reflective learners. We have asked – ‘How can we improve our work?’

‘What can we learn from this experience?’

We use our imaginations to ask- ‘What if?’

Well done to Year 4 for 100% attendance – fantastic achievement for two weeks in a row.

This week we have welcomed two new members to the Brighstone School family – Sausage and Shelly! The two African Land Snails have created a huge sense of excitement and curiosity. Over the coming weeks we will be learning more about their habit and diet, watching as they grow. Thank you to Leah Eagles, Casey Eagles and family for letting us adopt them.

Next week we have a whole school worship in church on Wednesday 31st January at 8.40am, if parents would like to join us they would be very welcome. Please check the dates for your diary as they have the school services for Lent and Easter.

As a school we are committed to Safeguarding, last term we reviewed our practice and asked that parents supported us fully with the collection arrangements for children at the end of the day. If your child is being collected by someone other than an adult with registered parental responsibility or an adult listed on the data collection form (eg: known grandparent), please could parents/guardians ensure that the class teacher and office are aware of this change. We realise that on some occasions children are returning home to play with friends and are collected by one set of parents, or that unforeseen circumstances occur; we would still politely request that we are informed of this to avoid any confusion. Please do not be offended if the teacher or member of staff asks for confirmation of the arrangements, our primary concern is the safety and welfare of your child.

In the meantime, if you have any queries please do not hesitate to speak to me in the playground, I am always happy to make appointments to meet with parents.

We thank you for your continued support and hope that you have an enjoyable weekend.

Best wishes, Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
