Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 11, Brighstone Buzz, 7th December, 2017

Dear Parents and Carers,

The Festive Season is now in full swing. All of the preparations for the Christmas Tree Festival are completed, we are holding our school Christmas Fair on Saturday and Nativity preparations are well underway. The children have remained very focused on their learning while fitting in opportunities to rehearse for all of the events.

We have had a lovely beginning to the first week in Advent, in our worship we have shared the meaning of our Advent wreath and lit the first candle. By the time you receive this, our children will have sung at the opening of the Christmas Tree Festival at the Methodist Church. They have worked very hard and we are really proud of them, their commitment, enthusiasm and ability to convey the joy of the Christmas message. Thank you to Mrs Jones for all of her hard work and the parents who supported them that meant they had this opportunity.

On Wednesday 13th December we have our Christingle Service; this will be instead of a Eucharist. The service is in church at 8.40am all parents, family and friends are welcome to join us. We will be making Christingles with the children during the morning on Tuesday 12th December and would like to invite parents to come in to help the children make them immediately after drop off in the morning from 8.30am onwards. We would be grateful if you could provide your child with an orange to make their Christingle, they will bring it home after the service. The school will provide all of the other materials that are needed. It would be helpful if the children could bring in their orange on Monday ready for the activity on Tuesday. Please do not worry if your child is not able to bring in an orange, the school will have some spare ones to make sure that everyone is included.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have already returned your Parent Questionnaires. They are one of the many ways that the school can receive feedback and it is important that we are able to reflect on the way in which we do things to support our children and parents. If you have not done so already, please do try to return it. Spare copies are available from the office.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend at the Christmas Fair and at all of the events that are taking place over the coming weeks.

Best wishes

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
