Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 10, Brighstone Buzz, 16th November, 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

Remembrance and Respect.

Our week began with the whole school attending a short service of remembrance led by Rev Linda Porter and the Royal British Legion. The school council representatives from each class laid a wreath made by the children; it was moving to hear all of the children sing as part of the service after the two minutes silence. We would like to say a huge thank you to the Royal British Legion and Reverend Linda who helped to organise the service and share the act of Remembrance with the children.

We have continued to explore our core values of Love, Courage and Respect with the children this week through our work on Anti-Bullying. I would like to say a huge well done to the children in year 5 and year 6 who helped to prepare and deliver worship on Thursday. They did a thought provoking presentation that encouraged the other children to consider the themes around respect for one another and how it could help to combat bullying. We will continue this in our PSHE lessons and next week two more groups of children from year 5 and year 6 will have the opportunity to give their presentations during worship.

This week all of the children have undertaken a number of assessments. We have our Parent Consultation Evenings coming up on Monday 26th November and Tuesday 27th November 2018. Some teachers will be offering both dates, depending on the size of their class, while others will be offering one evening. Booking sheets are now available in the school office with the dates and times for everyone. We would like to reassure parents that if they are unable to make an appointment at the times on offer, their child’s class teacher will be prepared to meet with them at an alternative time. We would like to encourage all parents to take the opportunity to meet with the class teacher as this is a valuable way of being updated on progress and attainment for the term. In the meantime, if there is anything that you would like to discuss about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to speak to the class teacher or me.

Well done and thank you to everyone for their contributions to our Children In Need Mufti Day.

Best wishes, Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
