Dear Parents and Carers,
December has arrived, marking the beginning of the season of Advent. The first door on the Advent Calendar has been opened, the wreaths have been dusted off and the tree has been decorated. It was a delight to see the looks of joy and excitement on the children’s faces as they came into the hall this morning to find that the tree had been prepared and decorated. We would like to thank the BSA (Brighstone School Association) for arranging this and to the parents and staff that gave up their time on Thursday evening to start the preparations for the Christmas Fayre and to decorate the tree.
Next week sees the start of the Christmas Tree Festival, there is a carol service to open it at the Methodist Church at 3.30pm on Thursday 7th December, some of the children will be taking part in leading the singing for this. Mrs Jones has worked very hard with the choir learning the songs and it would be lovely to see as many of you there as possible to support them.
The following week we have our Christingle Service. This will be instead of a Eucharist and is to be in the church on Wednesday 13th December at 8.40am all parents, family and friends are welcome to join us. We will be making Christingles with the children during the morning on Tuesday 12th December and would like to invite parents to come in to help the children make their Christingle immediately after drop off in the morning from 8.30am onwards. Please note this is a change to the time we advertised last week. We do hope that you will be able to come along.
There is a lot happening in school on 12th December, it is also the day of our school Christmas Lunch and a piano concert that is to be given by the pupils of Judith Harvey our piano teacher. We would like to invite the parents of all the children that have piano lessons with Judith to join us at 1.30pm on 12th December to enjoy their performance of Christmas music.
On Thursday we welcomed Nicky Metcalf into school to launch this year’s Active Travel Project: ‘Shift It Schools’. Over the coming weeks we will be encouraging the children to think about how they can be more active on their journeys to and from school. We are inviting the children to take part in designing the colours and graphics for a cycle helmet with a focus on the message: ‘Be seen be safe’.
We look forward to seeing you at all of the events that are taking place over the coming weeks.
Best wishes, Mrs Fox
