Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had an exciting end to our half-term this week. We have had visitors in school and trips out of school.
Earlier this week, on Monday afternoon we welcomed the Iman (Muhammed Bahar) from Newport Mosque into school. He met with the
children from year 4 and year 5, this was a great way to conclude their unit of work in RE based on Islam. The children were respectful, thoughtful and engaged as they questioned and listened to answers about the Muslim faith.

Today our children in years 3, 4 and 5 have been on a visit to the Planetarium to help conclude, deepen and contextualise their
cross-curricular learning from across the past five weeks. We are looking forward to hearing more about their activities when they return later this afternoon.

Safer Internet Day was marked globally on Tuesday (6th February). Each class spent some of their learning time focusing on E-safety, this is an increasingly important issue for all of us in a world of 21st century technology. We intend to follow this up with a further day next half term. This will include sessions across the day for every class, followed by an information session for parents and staff training. On Tuesday 13th March Rob Ellis from ICTTALK will be providing support for the school. We would like to invite parents to join us at 1.45pm, this will be an informative opportunity to help understand how we can all work together to ensure our children remain safe online. We realise that some working parents might prefer an evening session, if there is sufficient demand we will explore the possibility of arranging an alternative time.

On Sunday 11th March it is Mothering Sunday, this year the service will be at St Peter’s in Shorwell and it is being led by Bishop Christopher. Last year quite a few of our children came to the service and took part with the readings, prayers, singing and giving out posies of flowers. It would be great if we could encourage families to join us again for the service. If your child would like to help and take part, please contact me – it was an enjoyable family occasion last year.

I hope you all have an enjoyable, relaxing and restful half-term.

Best wishes,

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
