Dear Parents and Carers,
This weekend I will have been Head Teacher at Brighstone for a month, I cannot believe how much has happened in such a short space of time.
This week our Year 6 boys took part in a football tournament. They played on both Tuesday and Wednesday after school – having played a number of matches they got through to the semi-final. After what was a fantastic effort, they were narrowly beaten by Gurnard Primary School.
Continuing on the theme of sporting endeavour, our Brighstone School Association running team showed amazing stamina last Saturday. A combination of twenty two parents, relatives and friends of the school were runners for our round the island relay race against Nine Acres Primary School. The first runners set off from Isle of Wight Pearl at 5.00am and our runners for Brighstone completed the final leg from Brook to finish at Isle of Wight Pearl at just after 5.00pm. Congratulations to Brighstone who won this year’s race – the challenge is on for next year. Thank you very much to Lucy Brodie and the BSA team for the excellent organisation that went into it – I know they have raised a huge amount in sponsorship – we look forward to sharing the final total with you once all of the money has been collected.
In our Golden Worship today the school was introduced to the School Council, Well-Being Team and ICT Monitors. It also gave me great pleasure to introduce Freya C who has stepped up to be Deputy Head Girl.
Next Thursday 6th October we will have our monthly School Eucharist at the church, it is also our Harvest Festival, it would lovely to see as many parents as possible join us in the church. The service starts at 8.40am. In preparation for our Harvest Festival, we would like to encourage the children to bring gifts of packaged food products. These will then be donated to the Food Bank.
If any of you are available on Sunday, I would like to encourage you to join us in Sainsbury’s to help with the Bag Packing – we will be there from 10.00am – 4.00pm.
30th-septemberBest wishes
Mrs Fox
