Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 23, 15th March, 2019 – Brighstone Buzz

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are now well into our Spring Term and the second of Lent. An important date in the calendar as we approach Easter is Mothering Sunday, this year it is on 31st March 2019. For the past two years we have invited the children to take part in the service at church on the Sunday and we would like to do the same again this year. If you would like your child to help with the service, then please text the office and I will arrange for this to happen.

As many of you may be aware there is currently a consultation process taking place about school place planning in the West Wight. I have recently been made aware of a number of rumours that are circulating relating to Brighstone CE Primary. I would like to reassure parents that none of the current options outlined within the consultation indicate either Federation with other schools or the closure of Brighstone. I would encourage you all to read through and engage with the consultation this can be found on the following link:

https://www.iow.gov.uk/Residents/Schools-and-Learning/Schools/School-Consultation

We have our Parent Consultation Evenings coming up on Monday 1st April and Tuesday 2nd April 2019. Some teachers will be offering both dates, depending on the size of their class, while others will be offering one evening. Booking sheets will be available in the school office with the dates and times for specific classes from Wednesday 20th March 2019. We would like to reassure parents that if they are unable to make an appointment at the times on offer, their child’s class teacher will be prepared to meet with them at an alternative time. We would like to encourage all parents to take the opportunity to meet with the class teacher as this is a valuable way of being updated on progress and attainment for the term. In the meantime, if there is anything that you would like to discuss about your child’s education, please do not hesitate to speak to the class teacher or me.

Best Wishes

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
