Dear Parents and Carers,
Carols, Christingle and cheerful children – what an incredible week we have had! The school has been buzzing with enthusiasm and anticipation as our preparations for Christmas and the end of term have gathered pace. Only five school days of this term left and there is so much to pack into them!
This week our Christingle Service helped us to focus on the message of God’s love at Christmas. Our Christingle making was very successful – thank you to all of the children for bringing in their oranges and to all of the parents who joined us on Tuesday morning to make the Christingles. It was fantastic to have the help, support and collaboration of parents for this. There was a great family atmosphere and this continued during the service in church on Wednesday.
It has also been a very musical week; on Monday afternoon we were treated to a carol concert by the pupils who learn to play the piano and the guitar, it was great to hear the progress they have made – thank you to Judith and Rob for their supportive tuition and dedication to the school.
Australia Class (Reception) have had an extremely busy time this week, the focus of their achievements has been on helping others: they raised an amazing £70 at the fayre selling home-made dog biscuits, reindeer food and bird cakes. This all went to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital in New South Wales, where they are setting up water stations, rebuilding environments and setting up breeding programmes to protect endangered koalas. Nearer to home they have been helping other families on the island by doing ‘Reverse Advent’ and have collected a box of food and products for the IoW Food Bank. The climax of their week was to save CHRISTMAS! They successfully found Rudolph, who had escaped from Father Christmas, on their ‘Reindeer Hunt’. Thanks to their amazing problem solving and great detective work all of Santa’s reindeer are now safe and back where they belong ready to deliver presents on Christmas Eve.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who have already returned your Parent Questionnaires. They are one of the many ways that the school can receive feedback and it is important that we are able to reflect on the way in which we do things to support our children and parents. If you have not done so already, please do try to return it. Spare copies are available from the office.
I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend and I look forward to seeing you at the various events across the final week of term.
Best wishes – Mrs Fox
