Welcome back, I hope that you have all had an exciting and fun summer holiday. It was fantastic to see everyone’s smiling faces on Thursday. We welcomed our new reception class children into Brighstone as well as Rose in Reception, Sean in Year 1, Keegan in Year 2, Lily in Year 3, Brandon in Year 4, Dayne and James in Year 5 and Bella and Evan in Year 6 and all their families into our community. All of the children settled quickly into their new classes and there is an excited buzz about the term ahead.
We also welcomed two new members of teaching staff this week. Miss Bates and Miss O’Connell have the pleasure of teaching Year 3 and Year 5 respectively. We must also welcome Mrs. Bacon as our 1:1 Classroom Assistant in Year 1. During our Thursday worship we were also delighted to introduce Mrs. Lennon, who looked suspiciously like Miss Brough. Our congratulations once again go to the new Mr. & Mrs.
Although the children came back to School on Thursday staff officially returned on Tuesday and spent considerable time focusing on the changes to Assessment of children’s achievements and progress that will take place this year. We are holding a parent presentation session on Wednesday 16th September starting at 4.00 p.m. this will be an opportunity to gain an overview of what will be happening, why and when.
Finally I would like to thank you for you continued cooperation whilst our building works take place. The builders have constructed our new playground and the classroom base is almost complete. It is anticipated that construction will be complete in early November. Look out for further details during next week.
