Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 07, 16th October, 2015, Brighstone Buzz

Every time I walk around our School I find so many things that make me smile.  We have welcomed a large number of new children to our Brighstone School family and when showing prospective parents around on Thursday you could not identify who they were because they have all settled so well.  It makes me so proud of all of our pupils that they hold out the hand of friendship and make everyone welcome.

Tuesday’s highlight was watching, along with the rest of the School, our Head and Deputy Head Boy and Girl lay bricks as part of our new building construction.  The building works remain on track and the classrooms will be handed over during the next half term.  Monday saw Year 5 scaling giddy heights!  Earlier in the term Miss O’Connell entered a competition and won a tree climbing experience at Goodleaf for all of her class.  They came back beaming and full of confidence as many had achieved what they thought was impossible.

I have met with Island Roads this week regarding the up and coming restrictions to Warnes Lane Car Park.  They recognised that a large number of parents use this area to park at either end of the School day and have said that they will keep disruption to a minimum during 8.00-8.30 am and 2.30-3.00 pm to assist with this.  However, they have asked that the Car Park is free of vehicles as quickly as possible after drop off and collection.

Next week is the last week of this half term and I would like to remind you that School finishes for the children on Thursday 21st October.  Have a lovely weekend.

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
