Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

A Letter from Mrs Lennon – 22nd July 2020

Dear parents and carers,

You will have recently received a letter from our Chair of Governors informing you of my recent appointment as
headteacher at Brighstone CE Aided Primary School. I am delighted and privileged to have been appointed to this
role by the governors.

Having taught at Brighstone for 13 years, as class teacher, English subject lead, Assistant Headteacher and Acting
Headteacher, I feel I am truly invested in this village school and I feel blessed to have been part of this friendly
community over the years.

I have enjoyed my role as Acting Headteacher over the last few months, and I am very proud and excited to be given
the opportunity to continue to lead our fantastic team here at Brighstone, where the staff and governors are
passionate about achieving the very best for our children, the school and our families. I believe in the importance of
listening to the views and thoughts of parents and carers, and I am looking forward to working with you all, as well
as the wider community, to ensure that Brighstone continues to be the best school it can be for our children.

The importance of a clear tagline and vision helps to define and promote a school’s ethos and culture. Brighstone
has many strengths. It has always been, and will continue to be, a warm, bright and welcoming school, where our
school values permeate everything we do and everyone (children, staff, governors and families) is enabled and
encouraged to do their best and achieve their potential.

This culture has helped to create our new tagline:

Learning and Achieving Through Love, Courage and Respect

Our new vision statement also reflects and promotes this ethos:

We provide a collaborative and nurturing environment where everyone is enabled to thrive and flourish in their own unique way.

I look forward to working with everyone within the Brighstone community to enable this to happen for everyone!

I would like to extend a thank you to Mrs Teresa Fox, who led the school as headteacher for four years. I know many
of you would like the opportunity to say a proper goodbye, so this will be planned for a suitable time when
restrictions are further lifted. We will keep you informed.

I would like to thank everyone for your support over the past few months, and I look forward to working with you all
to make Brighstone the best school it can be for our children.
I wish you all a very happy and sun-filled summer holidays!

With very best wishes

Mrs Lennon

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
