Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 10, 14th November, 2014, Brighstone Buzz

I was deeply moved along with many members of the congregation on Tuesday by the poignant Remembrance Service in which we all took part. Year 5’s tribute to the Unknown Soldier was revealed and the sculpture will remain in St. Mary’s church until the 5th of December, the children have been busy writing letters which will also be displayed in the Church along with any other letters that the wider community compose. Please feel free to visit ‘Tommy’ as he has become known and pin up your own letter up in memory of all those who gave their life to secure our freedom.

We have been inundated with visiting bears today, along with several cuddly dogs etc. Our huge thanks go out for all of your kind donations, we have collected a grand total of £170 for Children in Need and I know that Pudsey Bear will be very grateful.

The School Council has met this week with representatives from throughout the school. They discussed a range of ideas that they feel would improve our School and I am looking forward to meeting with representatives from the council next week to consider these further. Both Mrs Pugh and I were very impressed at the way the Head and Deputy boy and girl organised the meeting, they took full responsibility for chairing and minuting the meeting and carried out the tasks in a very professional manner. Well done Brighstone School Council.

The children are getting very excited about next week, as the opportunity for Brighstone Primary School to be immortalised on vinyl (I am showing my age now! I should say on disc) approaches. Thursday will see the School Hall become a recording studio for the day and the children will get the chance to lay down their tracks! Don’t forget you too can take part let us know if you would like more details.

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
