Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 5, Brighstone Buzz, 4th October, 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is almost impossible to sum up our life in school this week using just a few short paragraphs! So many opportunities to be generous, to be thankful, to celebrate, to be creative and to enjoy our learning.

Thank you to all of our families for your overwhelming generosity towards the Food Bank this week; the donations of food that you all made as part of our Harvest Festival will make a real difference to families in need. Our service on Wednesday morning was one of thanksgiving and celebration, there was a real sense of enjoyment as the children shared songs, poems and prayers as part of the service. This was made even more special as so many parents were able to join us for this time.

Parental engagement and involvement has been a central part of our activities this week and it made a real difference to welcome those of you that were able to join us for National Poetry Day on Thursday. Our work for this has been based on trees, with a particular focus on the ‘Dragon Tree’ in Brighstone. We are looking forward to sharing our finished poems and artwork in an anthology that will celebrate all of the hard work that has been done.

This week’s excitement continued for our children in Year 3 and Year 4 as today they have been on a trip to Paulton’s Park. They are exploring first hand the structure, mechanisms and programming needed for the operation of the rides and attractions that can be experienced at theme parks. Creating links be-tween, design technology, science and computer coding – not to mention the fun and thrill of the fairground!

With everyone working in collaboration to support each other, all of this week’s memorable moments will help the children to make connections between the knowledge and skills that they are learning – developing them into resilient, life-long learners.

We hope you have a restful weekend.

Best wishes
Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
