Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 17, 15th January, 2016, Brighstone Buzz

Brrrrr! There is no doubt that Winter has arrived. The children are very excited that snow has been mentioned by the weather forecasters. If we do happen to wake up to snow at any point we will keep you updated with the school status via our text message system and Isle of Wight Radio.

We have welcomed the Fire Service into school this week to carry out Bikeability with Year 6 pupils. This course will carry on over five weeks during which the children will complete their cycling proficiency certificate.

This week the pre-school children who will be starting school in September joined the reception class for an afternoon as part of their transition programme. It was lovely to see them engaging with their friends.

We are continually updating the diary dates contained within the Buzz. You will find details of upcoming parents meetings all below but should you need to talk to your child’s class teacher please, as always, make an appointment for a convenient time.

Thankfully the road in and out of Brighstone is now open again; I know that this has impacted on some of you who travel to us from further afield. Can I take this opportunity to remind all parents that the school day starts at 8.25am at which point the classroom doors are closed and any children that arrive after this must report to the school office.  Wishing you all a great weekend.

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
