Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Dear Parents and Carers,

I cannot believe how quickly this half-term has gone, when we return to school Spring will be well on its way. Our first day back after the holiday is an INSET day so the children will return to school on Tuesday 28th February.

Over the past week there have been some fantastic opportunities for the children to share their learning with their parents. On Wednesday afternoon we welcomed the parents of the children in Owl Class (Year 1) into school to share the Toy Museum. As well as displaying and writing about toys old and new, the children had made an amazing range of toys in Design Technology. This was followed on Thursday by the children in Falcon Class (Year 5) hosting an Egyptian Museum, the links between their history and their art work were impressive. Finally today, Chaffinch Class (Year 2) have shared their Little Miss and Mr Men project, the children have become authors and each developed their own characters and produced their own books. All of the topics have linked the learning for the children creatively across a number of subjects, including: literacy, art, design, history and science. An impressive half-term’s work! Along with the teachers I would like to thank the parents for coming into school and showing encouragement and enthusiasm for the hard work that the children have done.

The children have also enjoyed taking part in sporting activities. Well done to the Under 9 girl’s football team, they have done extremely well and were sadly only knocked out of the league this week. Their teamwork and behaviour has been exemplary, they are great ambassadors for Brighstone. Thank you very much to Mrs Snow who has organized the football, coached them and shared her enthusiasm for sport with them. Also this week we have had some Inter-house Handball Tournaments, these have taken place across the whole of Key Stage 2. Everyone was able to take part in some way, those who were unable to play helped with scoring, taking photographs and reporting on the games.

We would like to wish Mrs. Stables all the very best for the future as today was her final day as FAB Club Leader.

I hope you all have a restful break.

Best wishes

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
