Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Spring Term is now well underway and the Christmas holidays seem like a distant memory. The children are now well into their learning journeys for the current topic, it is always encouraging to see them so engaged, motivated and enthusiastic.

Today has been a mixture of excitement and sadness. Mrs Jones, our Year One teacher, said goodbye to Brighstone. Tomorrow she embarks on a new adventure as she emigrates with her family to Australia. The children in Year One, along with the rest of the school, said a fond but tearful farewell to her and James. Her class is looking forward to being able to develop links with another school on the other side of the world, once she has settled into a new teaching post. We wish Mrs Jones and her whole family good luck with their future.

Over the past week there has been a lot of talk about the possibility of seasonally cold weather and especially snow! In the event of disruption because of snowfall and the need to close the school, we will notify you all through our text messaging service as well as through the Isle of Wight Council website. The council will also notify any local media of school closures if appropriate.

I hope you have a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Best wishes

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
