Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 14, Brighstone Buzz, 16th December, 2016

Dear Parents and Carers,

Only nine more sleeps until Christmas Day. We have had an eventful, stimulating and productive first term and I would like to thank you all for the welcome and support that I have had as your new Headteacher.

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us at our Christmas Fayre last Saturday and also for the excellent turn out we had for both performances of the school nativity. Both performances were superb, the children sparkled and shone as they performed – congratulations and well done to all of them.

I have some very exciting news to share with you. English Heritage recently ran a competition to find the best teacher on the Isle of Wight, Tilly in year 2 entered the competition and nominated Mrs Lennon. Tilly’s writing was so imaginative and persuasive that she won the competition; this was a complete surprise for Mrs Lennon. They both went along to Carisbrooke Castle on Monday to be presented with their prizes.

On a sadder note, one of our teachers will be leaving part of the way through next term. Mrs Jones, our Year 1 teacher, will be moving with her family to Australia. Her last day at Brighstone Primary School will be Friday 13th January 2017, nearer the time we will take the opportunity to wish her well and say our goodbyes.

I hope you all have a happy, restful and peaceful Christmas

Best wishes

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
