Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

Issue 9, 6th November, 2015, Brighstone Buzz

Welcome back. I hope you all had a wonderful week off and were able to take advantage of what seems to be the last of the sunshine. Now you can blame me for the rain in future. This week the clubs began and it was fantastic to pop into classrooms and see so many different activities going on, from magical Huxley in the hall, Christmas decorations in Reception, scrabble in Y2. firework displays in Y1 and embroidery in Y5. By the time I had finished I was covered in glitter, tied up in knots and flummoxed by a spelling trick even Mrs Lennon couldn’t solve.

The new classrooms are progressing well and I would like to thank you all for your patience and understanding with all the changes we have had to implement. I would also like to thank Melissa and Nigel (the site manager) for sorting out the gate which will mean a lot less soggy socks and muddy shoes coming into the classrooms. With that in mind I would like to trial children and parents waiting on the small playground at the beginning of school. Y6 and Y1 in the Reception outside area, Y2 outside their classroom, Y3 and 4 outside their respective classrooms and Y5 also on the small playground unless they are with parents in which case they can stand outside their door. This means that children will not be able to run around as much but with the current weather conditions children are restricted on the field playground anyway.

Now I know that once Bonfire night has passed our thoughts begin to move on to the “big event” in December and I want to remind you we have a school family choir meeting on Wednesdays in the Y6 mobile who will go a Wassailing around the village to raise funds for the school. As you will know the school will be performing in St Mary’s Church in the last few days of term and we will be ending the term on the 16th Dec. Plenty of time for me to do the shopping this year!

I look forward to seeing you at all the events and which you a peaceful weekend.

Mrs Pugh

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
