Curriculum Evening – Wednesday 4th November 6:15pm

Dear Parents,

I am delighted to be able to invite you to an interactive and informative evening for parents, exploring different aspects of the primary curriculum. This will be held at the school on Wednesday 4th November, in response to parental feedback gained via the questionnaires.
We will be offering each parent the choice of 6 workshops and you can select up to 3 to attend.
The programme for the evening will be as follows:
6:15-6:30pm – Welcome and introduction from the Headteacher
6:30-6:55pm – Workshop 1
7:00-7:25pm – Workshop 2
7:30-7:55pm – Workshop 3
8:00pm – Finish

List of workshops available:
A – Understanding how pupils are assessed at Brighstone Primary
B – The Early Years Curriculum for Reception pupils
C – Phonics and how we teach reading
D – How parents can support children in their learning at home
E – The 21st Century curriculum at Brighstone Primary (for Year 1 upwards)
F – Read, Write Inc (reading and writing intervention programme) for children who require additional support

We hope that these workshops will offer parents support and a taster of the learning that the children at Brighstone experience each day. You will notice that we have not offered any mathematics workshops. As this area is so broad, we feel that it requires a separate session, which we hope to hold early in the Spring term.

If you would like to attend 1, 2 or 3 of the available workshops, please complete the form below and return it to the school by the 12th October. Enter the code of the workshop that you would like to attend (e.g. A, B) alongside the time slot that would be most suitable. Dependent upon numbers received, we may kindly ask some parents to change the time of their workshop. We have enclosed 2 forms per child, should more than one parent wish to attend.
