NEWS FROM MISS JOHNSTON

The weather has continued to flummox us this week! Are we really now approaching July? I’d like to extend a very warm Brighstone welcome to Rebecca, who has become a Year 4 dolphin and Carole McIntosh, who has joined the learning support assistant team. This week the current Head and Deputy boys and girls selected their successors. Congratulations to: Tom M and Zoe G on becoming Head Boy and Girl and Luke S and Shona H on becoming their deputies. Also this week, Year 2 had a fantastic day at the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke and Year 4 undertook a day of village study in Brook. We had our last Shorwell Theatretrain session this week and the children were filmed in order to gain accreditation for their hard work – we have everything crossed that they have done well! Thank you for your Phil the Bag donations – nearly 200 bags were collected in total on Wednesday! Year 6 had their first transition day at their chosen secondary schools and after some bus negotiations, I hear thoroughly enjoyed their day. Mrs Denness, Clare, Jan and myself, will all be out of school next week, accompanying the children on their Year 6 trips. If you have any queries in my absence, please make an appointment to see Mrs Pugh. KS2 parents, a reminder that there will NOT be any swimming lessons this Monday 2^nd July. Please can I draw your attention to the need to pay all outstanding monies for dinners, trips, clubs, music tuition etc by FRIDAY 13^TH JULY at the latest. Can I also remind you that you must not drop-off your children or park in the bus layby between 8:15am and 9am under any circumstances, as the buses require this space. A parent was seen driving up onto the pavement in the layby and blocking in a bus this week. This is unacceptable and poses a danger to pedestrians. Please use the Warnes Lane car park. Finally, we are sorry that we had to postpone Sports Day this week. Sadly the weather we’ve been having this month has not been our friend! These decisions are never taken lightly and always with the best intentions. We hope that many of you will still be able to join us on our reserve date of 17^th July – again, weather permitting!
