Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

31st March, 2017, Issue 26, Brighstone Buzz

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a really exciting week and as our final week of term approaches Easter preparations are well underway.

On Tuesday afternoon we had a great turn out for the performances by Year 5 & 6 of their Music Technology projects. Thank you so much to all of the parents and family members who came along to support the children that had taken part in the club.

Over the past week we have held four parent forum ‘Coffee & Chat’ sessions, this has been a good opportunity to discuss a variety of ideas that people have brought along. During the discussions, we shared that over the Easter holidays we will be improving the playground space. We also invited parents to come along with their children to do some preparation and planting in the school garden. The date for this is Friday 21st April from 10.00am – 12.00pm; if it is possible, we will offer a date during the first week of the holidays too. This will depend on the timing and completion of the playground work. Another topic for discussion was the range of after school activities eg sports clubs, singing, drama etc. One suggestion was that we could survey the children about what clubs they would like to take part in, this would then give us a starting point for putting together a varied range across the school year. For next academic year we are also exploring the use of a Forest Schools programme and I offered to share the website details for parents to have a look at, if you are interested, please go to: www.hiwwt.org.uk and take a look at the New Leaves Project.

Next Thursday (6th April) we have our whole school Eucharist over in the church starting at 8.40am, we would like to invite parents and family members to join us. We are hoping that the Key Stage 1 children will wear their Easter Bonnets that they are making for the BSA competition.

I would like to thank the children and parents who joined us at church for the Mothering Sunday service. The children were amazing and so many people have commented on how well they read, sang and supported the whole service. A huge well done to all of you.

Best wishes

Mrs Fox

Parent Survey – Feedback

“Brighstone School is an excellent school. Very happy with the progress my child is making”

“My child has come on in leaps and bounds and has massively surprised me. I am very happy.”

Thanks to all parents who took part in our recent Parent Questionnaire. We are proud to report that 100% of parents who responded said that their child is happy and feels safe at our school. The responses this year also show an overall improvement in the school’s performance in meeting particular pupils’ needs, supporting learning, receiving information about progress and dealing with bullying – and it was great to see that you feel we are good at keeping you well informed.

Our thanks to all parents who completed the questionnaire.
